Prayagraj, February 7, 2025: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed deep gratitude and spiritual fulfillment after taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025. Accompanied by a 72-member delegation from Sikkim, Tamang described the moment as an extraordinary blessing.

"I feel truly blessed to have taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh. Since this sacred event happens once in 144 years, it is an incredibly fortunate occasion for us," Tamang stated.

Invitation from CM Yogi Adityanath

The Sikkim CM acknowledged that his participation was made possible due to an invitation from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

"Since Yogi Adityanath Ji invited us to the Maha Kumbh Mela, we decided to come here with our entire delegation. A total of 72 members from Sikkim accompanied me. I thought—why only me? Everyone should have the opportunity to experience this sacred event. That is why the whole delegation came along," Tamang explained.

Historic Pilgrim Turnout at Maha Kumbh 2025

As of February 7, 2025, over 40 crore devotees have participated in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, according to the latest figures released by PIB Delhi. By 10 AM today, more than 42 lakh pilgrims had bathed, and with 19 days still remaining, the total count is expected to exceed 50 crore.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 has drawn millions of devotees, saints, and Kalpavasis from across India and the world. Despite the completion of the three major bathing daysMakar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchami—pilgrim enthusiasm remains unwavering.

  • Mauni Amavasya recorded the highest participation, with over 8 crore devotees taking the holy dip.
  • Makar Sankranti saw 3.5 crore pilgrims.
